Steven Slate Audio has announced the VSX Immersion One planar magnetic open-back headphones for music mastering and production. The headphones are available for pre-order at an MSRP of $899 with shipping starting in December 2025.
When coupled with virtualization software, the headphones can simulate the audio reproduction of music played in professional studios and speaker placement by leveraging binaural psychoacoustic technology.
This allows music producers to accurately master tracks without the need to rent actual studio time, according to the company. The software is also designed to emulate other common playback situations, such cars and smartphones.
The VSX Immersion One utilizes a one micron thick Sendy Audio planar diaphragm measuring 97 x 76 mm (3.8 x 3.0 in.) with a frequency response of 20 Hz to 40 kHz. The aluminum body headphones are highlighted by maple wood earcups. A 2.5 m (8.2 ft.) balanced Y-cable connects the 32 ohm impedance headphones to 3.5 mm (1/8-inch) or 6.35 mm (1/4-inch) audio sources.
Readers who simply want to enjoy high-resolution music playback on planar headphones might consider a pair of Audeze LCD-X available on Amazon.
